How to get involved
Join an association and volunteer
With over 200 student associations at the University of Strasbourg, there’s something for everyone. You can join an existing group or create your own, whether it focuses on your field of study, humanitarian work, culture, sports, civic action or social life. Work on projects, share your values and make new connections along the way.

The Alsace Campus Student Association Charter (charte des associations étudiantes du site Alsace) allows your student association to become officially recognised by the university. It sets out your rights and responsibilities and gives you access to services such as administrative support, university spaces and financial help.

The Student Life Office (Service de la vie universitaire – SVU) manages the Student Project Support Committee (Commission d'aide aux projets étudiants – CAPE), in collaboration with the Regional Centre for University and Student Services (Centre régional des œuvres universitaires et scolaires – Crous) in Strasbourg. This committee funds projects run by student groups as well as individual initiatives. It is supported by the Fund for the Development of Student Initiatives (Fonds de soutien au développement des initiatives étudiantes – FSDIE), the IdEx Creative Thinkers Fund and the Culture‑ActionS Fund. You can apply to the Student Project Support Committee for funding to support student welcome and mentoring activities, cultural projects in science, technology or the arts, sports events, and initiatives in citizenship, solidarity, environmental protection or health and disability awareness.

Turn your commitment into a professional development opportunity
The Compte d’engagement citoyen (CEC) is part of a French system that recognises and values volunteer and civic activities. Through the CEC, certain volunteering or civic service activities can be recorded and converted into training credits. These credits are added to your Compte personnel de formation (CPF), a personal account that can be used to fund training courses and professional development. The CEC is open to students and university staff.
